WeChat is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. It’s a Chinese social App but now has become more and more popular in the world. There’s a problem that you might struggle with. How to add friends on WeChat? As I don’t know any WeChat users so far. And how to add friends when I get WeChat users on WeChat? Keep reading you will find the answer.

Why you need to add more friends on WeChat？

Avoid account being blocked.

Many users told me that they tried so hard to create WeChat account. But they have no idea how to get friends or add friends on WeChat. So some of them decided to uninstall the WeChat and didn’t log in WeChat in a long time. When they back to the WeChat, they find that they’re requested to ask WeChat friends to verify their account. The problem is they don’t have friends on WeChat. So their account might be never getting back again. Making friends will ensure your account’s safety.

Having more fun on WeChat.

Imaging that how could you use a social media platform without any friends? That’s totally a useless account, nobody likes to login account and you will leave that platform because of boring. The social media platform is for making friends, enjoy chatting with friends, sharing your life with friends, which help you connect with people.

How to add friends on WeChat？

WeChat provides adding friends by WeChat ID, Phone number, QR code, etc. Now I will show you how to add friends on WeChat step by step.

1. Adding friends by WeChat ID.

This is the most common way to add friends on WeChat. the easiest way, also. What you need to do is sending your WeChat ID to someone who you want them to add you. So they can search your WeChat ID to find you and add you.

But, most users don’t know what is WeChat iD or how to find their own WeChat ID. If you don’t know your WeChat ID, you need to open WeChat and click “Me” (Next to the Discover) on the bottom of the screen. You will find your WeChat ID below your WeChat name. Basically, WeChat ID is a random digital, you can change your WeChat ID so that it will be much easier to remember.
All you need to do is sharing WeChat ID with your friend.

When you got WeChat ID, you need to search the WeChat ID on the search bar(Search bar is on the top of the screen). It will show “Search WeChat ID” when you typing WeChat iD on the search bar. Click on that, and you will find your friend.

2. Adding friends by phone number.

If you got someone’s phone number, you can add them on WeChat easily. There’s one thing you need to know this phone number should be linked to WeChat. You will fail to add friends if their account didn’t link with phone number.

I don’t recommend you let someone who you don’t know to get your phone number. So, you should ensure t someone is reliable before you let them know your phone number. You should always keep that in mind.

3. Adding friends via QR code.

What is QR code? QR Code is a 2-dimensional bar-code that is easily scanned using any modern mobile phone. I’m not going to tell you what’s QR code, I will show you how to find the QR code of your WeChat ID.

How to find my QR code on WeChat?

You may be wondering, where is my QR code? You need to open WeChat and click “Me” (Next to the Discover) on the bottom of the screen. There’s a little QR code next to your WeChat ID. Click on that, and you will go to the Profile.

And then, you need to click on ” My QR Code”. If you want to share QR code with others, you can take a screenshot of the QR code into an image. Or you can click the three dots[…] on the top right of the screen and then click on “Save to Phone”. What you need to do next is sending the QR code image to others.

How to scan QR code on WeChat?

If someone sends you their QR code, you don’t need to scan the QR code with your camera. What you need to do is long-press the QR code image and then it will pop-up “Scan QR Code in Image”. You need to click on that. After that, you can add him or her on WeChat.

4. Adding friends via Friend Radar.

What’s Friend Radar? Friend Radar is the most efficient way to add friends when they’re in your immediate vicinity. There’s no need to get their WeChat ID, Phone number or QR Code to search one by one when you want to add friends on the party. Friend Radar is for adding friends who are in your immediate vicinity. It’s a good way to add friends on the party.

But, how to enable Friend Radar? Actually, you don’t need to enable this feature. What you need to do is open this feature. NOTE: If you want to add friends via Friend Radar, you and your friends all need to open the Friend Radar at the same time so that your account could be searched.

Open WeChat and click on the ”⊕ ” icon.
Click on ” Add Contacts”.
Click on “Friends Radar”.

Then you will find others account on the Radar and they will find yours too. It’s the most efficient way to add friends at the same time.

5. Adding friends by Mobile Contacts.

In this way, you will be required to upload your contacts to WeChat. Which means you can only add friends who are on your mobile contacts and they uploaded too.

Open WeChat and click on the ”⊕ ” icon.
Click on ” Add Contacts”.
Click on “Mobile Contact”.
After that, click on “Upload Contacts”

And then, you can see which friends are already using WeChat from your mobile address book then add them.

6. Adding friends by QQ number.

What’s QQ? QQ is one of the most popular social media in China. WeChat and QQ belong to the same company(Tencent company). You can say that WeChat and QQ are the top social media for chatting in China.

If you got someone’s QQ number, you can add friends by QQ number. What you need to do is searching QQ number on the search bar and then you can add him or her. If you don’t know what’s QQ number, Please forward to my tutorial about the difference between WeChat ID and QQ number.

7. Adding friends via People Nearby.

The People Nearby feature is the most common way to get friends if you don’t know how to get friends on WeChat. it will show you the WeChat users who are close to your location.

You can find and add new WeChat friends by using the “People Nearby” feature in your 「Discover」 tab. This will enable you to add people who are close to your location.

Open and sign in WeChat account.
Tapping “Discover” on the bottom of the screen.
Click on “People Nearby”
Click on “OK” to continue.
It will pop up a Note if you’re the first time to use People Nearby feature, what you need to do is clicking “OK” to continue.
Click on someone’s avatar if you’re interested in. And add them.

What if you just want Females or Males shows only? Or, What if you don’t want to show your location anymore and you want to clear location? Or, What if you want to check who sent you greetings?

That’s easy to set up. Click on the three dots[…] on the top right of the screen and then you’ll find the answer.

8. Adding friends via Shake.

How “Shake” feature works? When you shake your phone, you will find someone from anywhere in the world who shake the phone at the same time. Once you discover a new WeChat user who you’re interested in you can send a greeting or add him or her.

Open and sign in WeChat account.
Tapping “Discover” on the bottom of the screen.
Click on “Shake”.

So now you can shake your phone and it will show you the WeChat user who shake their phone too. It will show the user’s gender and the distance between you two. (The red icon next to the nickname means female, the blue icon means male.)

NOTE: Drift bottle feature is no longer supported since 2019. So don’t waste your time on that.

9. I’ve set up a WeChat group for whom don’t know how to get friends.

This group members are from all over the world. Add me on WeChat and I’ll invite you into the group. my WeChat ID: xsY7654321

10. Adding friends by other social media platform.

You will find more friends on other social media platform. Like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp, etc.

There’s one thing you definitely need to know, Do NOT SEND TOO MANY REQUESTS in a short time!!! and DO NOT ADD TOO MANY FRIENDS in one day!!!

Add 1-3 friends per day is ok. If you add or send too many requests, your account will be blocked. Trus me, it will be blocked. As I said before, WeChat account is not easy to get but gets blocked easily. There’re some tips about how to avoid WeChat account having been blocked.
