WeChat has launched a totally new feature, Time Capsule. Most people didn’t know anything about the Time Capsule. This is a great and fun way to record something on WeChat. You definitely need to learn how to record Time Capsule on WeChat.
What is Time Capsule on WeChat？
“Time Capsule” is a new feature launched lately. Actually, Time Capsule is one of the big moves of WeChat in 2019. You can record a short video or photos with your friends on WeChat. It’s a good way to share your life with your life.
You might think why lanch Capsule when there’s WeChat Moments? WeChat Moments is for sharing a life story in a video or pictures, even words only. Besides, you can share articles too. You will learn more on my post about how to post WeChat Moments.
Time Capsule is totally deferent from WeChat Moments. Time Capsule is focusing on short video. The short video is WeChat’s strategy that competes with other company in the short video market.
The most interesting thing is Time Capsule can be shared only 24 hours. Which means, the short video or pictures you recorded will be expired after 24 hours. So you can record somethings for a brief period of time.
Now, Time Capsule supports selecting multiple photos from your photo album after which a photo montage will be automatically created. It’s a great way to share either photos OR videos with your friends.
How to record Time Capsule on WeChat?
1. First thing first, you need to update WeChat to the latest version.
You are not able to use Time Capsule if the WeChat version below 7.0. So you need to update your WeChat version. As for how to check WeChat version. You can do that easily, just go to [Me]>[Sttings]>[About]. After that, you will find the version of WeChat.
Apparently, you can update WeChat version by clicking [Check for Updates]. This is the quickest way to update WeChat version. But！Do not stop updating halfway. Or your account could be blocked. Some users told me that their account has been blocked because of that.
What I recommend way is updating WeChat via IOS Apple store or Google Play store. It can ensure your account not being block if update failed and update faster.
2. Go to [Me] and tap the Camera icon in the top right corner.
There’re two ways to start Time Caplue after going to [Me]. One is tapping the Camera icon. the other one is scrolling down the screen and then it will show the camera icon with the word, “Record your Day”. When it comes to recording, I’m sure that you are the expert. If you want to take a selfie, then you need to tap switch camera the top right corner.
Sometimes, you might want to share some beautiful photos that you saved on your phone with friends on Time Capsule. You can select multiple photos from the album.
3. Edit your short video or photos on Time Capsule.
After recording Time Capsule, what you need to do next is editing your short video or photos on WeChat. You know what? There’s no need to edit the video on a third-party app or software. It allows you to make simple editing directly.
Add a short description: As you can see, it will pop up a line with the words “Say something” to let you make a brief description. You can type something you want to say there. I thought this short sentence can be placed anywhere I want. Actually, it’s not. Just let you know, don’t waste your time to place the short description.
Add stickers: Stickers is the most popular features on WeChat. We all love to use sticker when we’re chatting with friends. And you can save the sticker that you love to WeChat account when your friends sent you. Just simple long-press the sticker and then you need to click on “Add Sticker”.
If you didn’t save any stickers on WeChat, you’re not able to add stickers to Time Capsule. If you did, then you can click on the “Smile” shape icon. And you can select the sticker you want to add. Moreover, you can add multiple stickers not just only one.
And you can place or replace the stickers by dragging it. Also, you can drag the stickers to bottom to delete it.
Add Text: Time Capsule allows you to add text to your video or photos. You can type your feelings or a title on there. Meanwhile, you can change the background color of text by selecting the colored circle icon on the bottom. As for placing the text, it also allows you to drag the text. If you want to delete it you need to drag it to the bottom.
Add music: This is another great feature that everyone love to use. You can choose music by searching for it in the search bar. It not only allows you to search by song name but also by lyrics, even feeling.
Once you’ve chosen the music you love, you can check the Lyrics to show or not. And you can check the Audio to play background audio or not.
Add location: If you’re traveling, you definitely want to share your location with your friends. Then you can click the location icon to select your current location.
Show or hide Time Capsule from moments: What’s this feature for? if you don’t want your video or photos recorded on Time Capsule shows on WeChat Moments page, you can set it to hide from the Moments by clicking the three dots […] on the top right corner.
Well, the last thing you need to is clicking “That’s It” to post on Time Capsule.
How to find the video or photos I record on Time Capsule?
It happens that you want to check the video or photos or delete it. Many people didn’t know how to find that. Go to [Me], and you will find your Time Capsule on the top. Click on that and you will see the Time Capsule you recorded. As for deleting, you can click the three dots […] to delete it or set as private.
Besides, you can find Time Capsule on My Posts. Go to [Me] again, and click on “My Posts”, you will find your Time Capsule too.
How to check friends’ Time Capsule?
Actually, you might not be aware of your friend post a Time Capsule. Because it only shows a little difference in the avatar. You might find that there’s a small circle icon on someone’s avatar. If you do find a small circle icon, which means, they post a Time Capsule. You can check their Time Capsule by clicking avatar. Hard to be aware of, right?
