Tiktok is the most popular App in the world, Actually, Tiktok and Douyin both belong to the same company (ByteDance 字节跳动). However Tiktok and Douyin(抖音) run separately. Tiktok is for global users (Except for China mainland users) and Douyin (抖音) mainly for China mainland users. If you’re interested in Chinese cultures, history, food, language, etc. You can find all of that on Chinese Tiktok ( Douyin 抖音).
Why is Tiktok banned in China?
You must be curious about why Tiktok is banned in China. As Tiktok is a China product. How come banned its own product, that’s insane.
Before we get started, I think many of you didn’t know the most popular website or App are restricted in China. it’s illegal to use Google, Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, WhatsApp, etc. As long as the website or App has social communications functions are all banned in China. That’s why I posted so many tutorials on Chinese social medias. Because some people really need those to contact their families, friends or Chinese manufacturers in China.

Can foreigners use Chinese Douyin (Chinese Tiktok)?
Yes! I thought Douyin(抖音) Chinese Tiktok is only for Chinese residents, but one day I asked some readers from outside of China, they told me that it’s working to sign up Douyin and post videos or comments on Douyin. So, it’s proven to use Douyin for foreigners.
Apparently, Douyin is available for foreigners, however, the interface language is only in Chinese. This means either you can read Chinese characters or know how to set it up the first time. After that, just scrolling down the video, you don’t need any complex operation. All you need to do is check out my Douyin tutorials.
How do I download Chinese Douyin?
I said the foreigners outside of China can use Chinese Douyin. But, it’s not easy for someone who is not familiar with the internet. You can’t find Chinese Douyin from Google Play store (Andriod) or Apple store (iPhone). Because ByteDance company (the Tiktok and Douyin owner) didn’t upload Douyin to Google Play store and Apple store. That’s why you can’t find them.
For Android users:
It will be super easy to download Chinese Douyin App. If you’re using China mobile phone, like Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, Redmi, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, etc. You can search “抖音” on the phones’ default App store. You can easily download Chinese Douyin from China brand’s phone.
Or you can download Chinese Douyin App from Douyin official website. And then scan the QR code to download it.
For iPhone users:
You can’t find Douyin on Apple store for the same reason, as the App didn’t upload. But iPhone is not like Android, iPhone doesn’t allow you to download App from a third-party, the only way is downloading from Apple store. How to fix it? You might need to change your iPhone ID’s country. Set the Apple ID country to China, then you can search for Chinese Douyin and download it. As for how to Change your Apple ID country or region please check out the Apple official tutorial.
No matter you’re using Android or iPhone, I don’t recommend you download from other third-party. As you don’t know if the App has been changed to be a virus. If there’s a better way, then stay away from a third-party you don’t familiar with, just keep that in mind.
How to sign up Chinese Douyin?
- Click “同意” to agree to Privacy Policy and Terms.
- Scrolling up as the user guide
- Click “我”.
- Check “agree to Privacy Policy and Terms” box
- Login with phone number“一键登录”.
If your mobile didn’t insert an SMS card then you won’t see Login with phone number“一键登录” option. You need to type your phone number manually.
- Enter phone number “请输入手机号码”
- Click “获取验证码” to get verification code.
- Enter SMS verification code”输入短信验证码”.
After that, set up your avatar picture and nickname (Or skip this step) and click “进入抖音” to login Douyin. Or you can skip this step by clicking “跳过”.
Can’t Sign Up Douyin?
Somehow, you can’t sign up Douyin successfully, but it’s totally ok If you have either WeChat, QQ, Toutiao, or Weibo account. Douyin allows you to log in with WeChat, QQ, or Weibo directly. If you don’t know how to get WeChat, QQ, or Weibo account then please click on the linked text.
