According to the financial reports, ByteDance’s full-year revenue in 2021 was about $58 billion, a 70% year-on-year increase. ByteDance is the parent company of Toutiao(头条), Douyin(抖音), and TikTok. TikTok is the most successful Chinese social media to internationalization. Recently, released Douyin for PC which gives users a new way to explore videos on Douyin.

How to download Douyin for PC

Douyin officially released the first PC version in January 2022. And it might be a little hard to find the PC version Client at that time. Because it didn’t upload Douyin PC to the official website.

But, now, things have changed, as Douyin released PC version of Douyin on their official website. You can download Douyin PC on Douyin’s official website. Or other App stores, like Microsoft App Store or Apple App Store.

I always recommend downloading Chinese social media apps from the official website or App store. Try your best to avoid downloading apps from some unknown website. Because Chinese social media are more restrictive, your account could be blocked easily if you’re using unofficial apps.

1. Enter Douyin’s official website URL (https://www.douyin.com/)
2. Click on “关于抖音”

You might not find Douyin PC download link on the homepage, I try to find that on the homepage, but I failed.

3. Scroll down the page to the page footer.
4. Click on “下载抖音” to download Douyin

5. Hit the “下载windows版” button to download Douyin PC for Windows. And then install it on PC.

Install Douyin PC

Once you download the Douyin Client, open the file, and then click on “一键安装”.

1. Open Douyin Client file.
2. Choose the path you want to install. And then click on “一键安装”.

3. After that, click on “马上开启” to open Douyin on PC.

How to download the Douyin Mac version?

Currently, you can’t download the Douyin Mac version. As it hasn’t been released yet. But I’m pretty sure it will be launched soon. I will update the info about that once Douyin Mac is released.

Are there any Douyin similar Chinese social media platforms?

Yes, Kuaishou (Kwai) 快手 is a Douyin similar video-sharing platform. Both of Douyin and Kuaishou are the leading video-sharing platform in China.
