How to change Ringtone on WeChat

WeChat is the most used message App in China. It offers instant message, video call and audio call and other social media features. In this article, I will teach you how to change WeChat ringtone and customize WeChat notifications. It has to be version 8.0.8 or higher to change ringtone on WeChat or customize ringtone on WeChat.

NOTE: if you just want to update WeChat, then never uninstall it and then re-install it. Although it’s a way to update the WeChat but it will caused chatting history missing. There’s a super useful tip for backup WeChat history, just check the link.

This new feature allows you to set up messages alert ringtone and video or audio call ringtone. Even assign exclusive ringtones for WeChat friends. So that you will know who is calling you without touching the phone just by knowing them by ringtones.

Firstly, open WeChat and go to [Me] > [ Settings] > [ Message Notifications ], after that if you want to set alert sound then clicking [ Alert Sound ] , if you want to set up video or audio call ringtones then clicking [ Ringtone for incoming Messages ]

WeChat offers 8 Alert sound for you, they are: Auto(Default), Toys, Cupid, Celestial, Delight, Crystals, Fairy, and Elegance. You just need to select alert sound you like and click [ Done ]

WeChat Video Call or Audio Call ringtone:

The default WeChat ringtone can be changed, it’s kind of bored when you calling someone, especially when you’re waiting for your friends answer, all you heard is du-du-du. How about you are listening a song when you’re waiting? That’s sounds really good, right? Here is how we set it up.

Same as before steps, go to [Me] > [ Settings] > [ Message Notifications ]. And then click [ Ringtone for Incoming Calls ].

After that, choose a song for WeChat video call or audio call ringtone and then click [ use ]. If you don’t like the songs listed, you can search for songs on the search bar.

Friends can hear the ringtones you set when they call you by default. You can disable it in [ Me ]>[ Settings]>[ Message Notifications ] > [ Friends Can Hear My Ringtones When Calling Me ].

If you want to assign exclusive ringtones for friends, then you can click [Assign exclusive ringtones for friends] and then choose the friends you want to set ringtone particularly. This is really helpful for lovers who you don’t want to miss any messages or call from them.
