What is the WeChat ID for?
As I said, WeChat ID is very important. Not only for accepting friends’ requests but also for keeping your WeChat account safe. There’s no doubt that WeChat ID isn’t the only way to protect WeChat, to accept WeChat friends. such as phone number, QR code, email, etc. However, WeChat ID is the key to get your account back when you lost the phone number. or you forgot to unlink the invalid phone number. Besides, WeChat ID is the most efficient way to add friends, accept friend requests.
I’m sure there’re some people didn’t use WeChat ID at all. They didn’t know their WeChat ID after using WeChat for a long time. They gave phone number or QR code to let people add them. But I don’t recommend you do that, as some ways of adding or accepting friends need to be set first. Or you and your friend will find that no matter what ways you’re using all fail.
Basically, searching WeChat ID is the default way to add friends. There’s another thing you should know, WeChat ID was generated randomly. I don’t think who can remember the WeChat ID generated at random. You should change your WeChat ID so that you can remember it easily, it will also to be recognized easily.
How to find my WeChat ID?
No matter what method you want to choose, you all need to log in to your WeChat account. I will not show you how to login to WeChat in every method. I assume that you all know how to log in. If you don’t, follow my steps. Alright, let me make it simple:
Step 2. Log into your WeChat.
You can log in via WeChat ID/QQ ID/mobile phone number/Email. What I strongly recommend way is logging in via VoicePrint. 1. Tap [Me] in the bottom right of the screen.
2. You will find your WeChat ID next to your avatar.

1.Click the search bar on the top of the screen, and then enter your nickname or alias.
2. Tap your own avatar and go into the dialog box.
3. Tap […] icon on the top right of the screen.

4. Tap your own avatar again on the chat info screen. then, you will find your WeChat ID below your Nickname.
Method 3
1. Tap [Contacts ] on the bottom of the screen.
2. Find your own avatar by searching or scrolling down.
Click the search bar on the top of screen, and then enter your nickname or alias.
3. Tap your own alias and go into your Profile.
Method 4
1. Tap [Discover] icon on the bottom of the screen.
2. Click [Moments] icon and go into Moments.
3. Tap your own avatar and you will go into Profile. You will find your WeChat ID on your profile.

Method 5
1. Tap any one of the chatting dialogue lists.
2. Go into the chatting dialogue.
3. Click your own avatar, and then you will see your WeChat ID.
How to change WeChat ID?

Actually, most of you want to change your WeChat ID because of the random WeChat ID. That is, your WeChat ID was generated randomly. Therefore, it’s too complex to remember. So, that’s why you need to change your WeChat ID.
NOTE: You can change your WeChat ID ONCE ONLY. So, you should think through your new WeChat ID before you change it.
1. Tap [Me] in the bottom right of the screen.
2. Tap [Settings] icon.

3. Tap [Account Security].
4. You will find your WeChat ID and then Click your WeChat ID.

Once you click your WeChat ID, there will be an alert for you, shows you that the WeChat can be changed only once. Once you confirm that alert, you can edit your new WeChat ID.
5. Enter your new WeChat ID and then click save icon. Your new WeChat ID was settled.
As you can see, it’s really easy to find your WeChat ID and change your WeChat ID. I recommend you write it down in your notebook or somewhere you can find when you forgot your WeChat ID.
